This is my story and why i want to help
Hey, I’m Rob Ratliff. A few decades ago, I had no idea how to sell, market, or even run a business effectively.
I started my first business, Tremonton Cyclery, a small bike shop in Tremonton, Utah. I loved what I was doing, but I quickly realized that passion alone doesn’t pay the bills.
I had to figure out how to get customers, make sales, and actually turn a profit. I learned everything I could about marketing and sales, and slowly, I started to see results.
But then life took a turn.
I was offered a job at America Online (AOL), the largest internet provider at the time. The pay was stable, and I needed better insurance for my family. So, I took the job.
My role? Customer retention—I had to convince people NOT to cancel their service. And honestly? I was terrible at it.
My retention rate was a miserable 10%. That meant for every 10 people who called to cancel, I could only save one.
I was failing.
But instead of quitting, I did something that changed everything.
I asked my supervisor to record my calls. When I listened back, I realized the problem: I wasn’t actually listening.
I was following a script, but I wasn’t connecting with customers. I wasn’t addressing their needs.
So, I changed my approach. I started listening, asking better questions, and offering real solutions. And suddenly, my results skyrocketed.
That experience taught me the power of listening to the real needs people have and solving their problems is the key to creating a business that will succeed.
I left AOL to work in real estate investing and sales, where I learned how to sell high-ticket coaching programs. Then, I moved into helping businesses market themselves the right way.
When the real estate market crashed in 2005, I had to reinvent myself again.
I went back to school for graphic design and web development and launched my own company, Marketing AI, LLC. I started helping small business owners, entrepreneurs, and side hustlers grow their businesses. I turned my side hustle into a 6 figure plus income.
